When I was a young girl, I was constantly on the move spreading my wings, traveling, and exploring. I grew up in an exciting family where moving was like second nature to us. My grandfather was in the Army and my father was in the Air Force, and we moved from the Deep South to The West Coast and everywhere in between.
Through every single move, my mother exemplified such grace in the chaos. She showed us that we must embrace the things we can not change, and even if something is temporary, we can still create a warm place for our family. These notions for a curated and thoughtful home stuck with me forever.
Supporting God and our Country are core values of mine. So, it was no surprise that I married a wonderful man of integrity, kindness, and strength who happened to be in the Navy! There I was again, moving and relocating base after base. This time with my own family. Three young children (the loves of my life), a big brother, and identical twin girls - doing what my mother did, creating a space of family and love in every home. At one point, we moved four times in three years.
After countless moves and transitions, my family was finally rooted. We were ready to design and build our next phase home. At this point, I felt empowered with my experience over the years designing three homes, so I decided, let's do this, and let's do it big! I drew my own floor plans, project managed, and served as the lead designer. I put on my construction hat and oversaw our home's entire design process, from selecting all finish materials to perfecting the size of cabinets to choosing paint colors and hanging artwork. We were finally home… it felt like us for this next phase of life of family expansion with grandchildren. We were nested.
At this point, my friends started looking to me as their trusted advisor asking critical questions to oversee a successful transition in their spaces. Some projects were small, like selecting new furnishings, while others were new builds like mine. I fell in love with this work. Not only was I able to connect, share my story, and cheer my friends on through their projects, but I was able to offer a unique perspective on the most important asset anyone will ever have… their personal home.
Years later, Nest Your Home was born. Here, I serve as a Home Strategist to help individuals transition from moving to actually living. I act as the head liaison to savvy former professionals who are retired and help them make large decisions on their home to support them in their next phases of life. I deeply believe in continued education and want to provide top-tier support to my clients. That is why I have been certified as a True Color Expert by Staging Studio.
But it's not just about the now... Because of my experience of living almost every geographic location in the United States, I understand how hard moving can be. I'm not just your liaison, I can be here to help you finally complete that BIG move.
I am entertaining, from large-scale fundraising events to intimate gatherings with my five grandchildren. I'm sure that comes as no surprise! Our home is our hub, and we are deeply rooted in our community. My husband and I are incredibly involved in our church, the Humane Society, The Boys and Girls Club, and the Non-Profit, Rethreaded, which supports human trafficking victims.
My life's mission is to serve, support, and empower others to make their house a home. I am here so you, too, can stop flying and finally feel nested.
